#27: Britain’s Infected Blood Scandal
Thousands of British families insisted for decades that the government knew their loved ones were being given dangerous blood products in the 1970s and 80s. Many patients, including people with hemophilia, caught HIV or hepatitis. Officials said nothing could have been done. Families called it a cover-up.

A public inquiry finally backed them up in 2024. About 30,000 people had been infected and roughly 3,000 had died, much of it avoidable. Officials had hidden the truth and even destroyed records. The prime minister apologized, and billions in compensation were promised.
