Card Machine Conundrum
Here’s another machine that’s become rapidly outdated with the rise of technology. Just around 30 years ago, if you used your card at a store, the workers would take your card and pop it into a gimmick like this. Why? Because it would copy your card’s details to authorize the payment! It’s crazy how much people trusted each other back then.
It seems almost medieval now to think that we used to use a tool like this in stores. Even chip-and-pin methods seem old-school now, with contactless payment methods like Apple or Google Pay becoming the norm. It’d be a miracle if anyone still used these retro gadgets in their stores today. Some people even say that in a few years, we will have our payment methods stored on a chip under our skin!
