#22: Björn Borg
Five straight Wimbledon titles made Swedish tennis star Björn Borg a worldwide icon in the late 1970s. Then, shockingly, he retired at just 26. He started a fashion company using his famous name, hoping to build a business empire. Things did not go as planned.

In the 1990s, his business troubles grew serious, and his money disappeared. Desperate, he put his Wimbledon trophies up for auction in 2006, until fellow champions like John McEnroe begged him to stop. Borg pulled them from the sale, and the underwear brand that carries his name later became successful.
