#25: Meat Loaf
Bat Out of Hell, released in 1977, became one of the best-selling albums of all time and made Meat Loaf a rock superstar. With his huge voice and dramatic stage shows, he seemed unstoppable. But soon he was fighting battles far from the stage.
Dozens of lawsuits piled up, his voice gave out, and he fell out with his longtime songwriter. In 1983, Meat Loaf filed for bankruptcy. It took him years to recover, but in 1993 he roared back with Bat Out of Hell II and won a Grammy.
