#27: Leonard Cohen
Poet and songwriter Leonard Cohen gave the world “Hallelujah” and “Suzanne.” In the 1990s, the Canadian star stepped away from fame to live in a Buddhist monastery for five years. While he was gone, he trusted his longtime manager to take care of his money.

In 2004, Cohen discovered that about $5 million had disappeared, leaving him with almost nothing. He won a lawsuit but could never collect the money. So at age 73, he went back on tour. His concerts became a huge worldwide success and restored his fortune.
