Kanye West went from a behind-the-scenes music producer to one of the biggest rappers on the planet. His Yeezy sneakers with Adidas later helped make him a billionaire. But before that success fully arrived, he surprised fans by admitting he was in serious financial trouble.
In 2016, West posted online that he was $53 million in debt and asked tech billionaires for help. His fortune soared soon after, but in 2022 Adidas cut ties with him over offensive comments, and he lost his billionaire status. He remains very wealthy by most measures.
