Your car may look safely parked, but thieves notice clues most drivers never consider. A forgotten phone mount, exposed key signal, or predictable parking routine could quietly make their job easier.

Fortunately, some of the smartest defenses are surprisingly simple. Hidden switches, security screws, signal-blocking pouches, and even the direction of your wheels can create unexpected obstacles.

Yet one overlooked habit may matter more than any expensive gadget—and most drivers still ignore it.

#1: Remove Phone Mounts

A phone mount may look harmless when no device is attached, but it still tells a thief that electronics are often used in the car. Suction-cup marks on the windshield can send the same message, suggesting that a phone, GPS unit, or tablet may be hidden nearby.

Take the mount down before leaving and wipe away any obvious ring or outline on the glass. Store the holder and charging cable out of sight as well. It will not guarantee protection, but it removes clues that could make breaking a window seem worth the risk.
