We all let our insecurities get the best of us from time to time, and the guy in this comic is no different. He assumes the girl would never be interested in him if he wasn’t in peak physical condition. So, rather than just enjoying the attention and maybe even getting to know the girl better, he quits the gym.

Here he was thinking he’d need to work out to make girls interested in him, but once this girl said he hasn’t changed a bit over the years, he figures that there was no need to spend all that time and effort, (and money!) on a gym membership. If he’s anything like me, he probably never even used that membership, but allowed himself to feel better just because he has the membership.
