#19: Major Injury or Trauma
A dog involved in a fall, car accident, fight, or other serious injury may have hidden internal damage even if they seem alert at first. Signs can include limping, bleeding, swelling, pain, weakness, shock, or trouble breathing. Some injuries worsen hours after the incident.

Contact a veterinarian immediately after any major trauma. Keep the dog calm and limit movement as much as possible, especially if spinal injuries are possible. Avoid giving food, water, or medication unless instructed. Even if injuries seem minor, a full veterinary exam is important to rule out internal damage.
