#23: Trying to Vomit Without Anything Coming Out
A dog repeatedly gagging or trying to vomit without producing anything may be showing a dangerous sign of bloat. Some dogs also drool, pace, whine, or develop a swollen stomach. This condition can become life-threatening very quickly if the stomach twists and traps gas inside.

Treat unproductive retching as a veterinary emergency. Contact a veterinarian immediately and head to an emergency clinic as quickly as possible. Do not offer food, water, or home remedies while waiting. Fast treatment is extremely important because bloat can rapidly affect breathing, circulation, and organ function.
