#35: Miss Ohio, 1922 — Mary Katherine Campbell
Mary Katherine Campbell became Miss Ohio and then went on to win Miss America not once, but twice, in 1922 and 1923. Born in Columbus, she was only a teenager when she first captured the crown, and her elegance made her one of the earliest icons of the competition.

Campbell nearly won a third consecutive time in 1924, finishing as first runner-up. After her reign, rules were changed to prevent anyone from winning more than once. Her dominance in the early years of the pageant gave Ohio an unmatched place in Miss America history.
