Iceland’s Unique Sheep-to-Human Ratio
Iceland is a haven for sheep, boasting a population of roughly 800,000, more than double its human residents of about 369,880. This equates to about 2.16 sheep per Icelander, highlighting the sheep’s free rein over the landscape, even taking over roads!

While Iceland’s sheep outnumber humans 2 to 1, this ratio pales in comparison to other countries. China, for instance, has about 16,589,819 sheep but with its vast population of 1.4 billion, the ratio drops to just 8.4 sheep per individual.
