Accumulating 5,000 acres as his wealth expanded, Redford founded the Sundance Institute in 1978 and acquired Timp Haven, renaming it Sundance. His creation of the Sundance Film Festival, initially hosted there, marked a notable success, later moving to Park City due to its growth.
