#16: ‘Snow White’ Was a Huge Gamble at the Time
When Walt embarked on creating Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, many in Hollywood called it “Disney’s Folly,” predicting audiences would never sit through a full-length animated film. Undeterred, he mortgaged his home and poured the studio’s resources into the project.

The film’s triumph secured the studio’s future and established Disney as an industry pioneer willing to stake everything on an untested idea.
