#41: Derek Carr and Heather Neel
Like most of us, Heather Neel, the current wife of NFL star Derek Carr, worked as a waitress during college to pay tuition and make some extra cash. Unlike most of us, this temporary job is where she met her future husband, an NFL star. While she was waiting tables at a local California restaurant, BJ’s Brewhouse, Carr was a customer. Although she later admitted she found his pickup line questionable, it still worked.
They both attended Frenso State, where Carr was a star quarterback. However, one thing the couple didn’t have in common was their social life: Carr, very much keeping with the college cliché of a star quarterback, cared more about partying than he did about his studies. Heather, on the other hand, wasn’t much of a party person. Despite this gap, the two started dating, and retrospectively, Carr is thankful for Neel for changing his bad habits.
