In case we needed yet another reason to love Betty White, we get to hear about her doing something amazing like this. It’s never easy to make it as a minority in Hollywood, but it would have been significantly worse back in the 1950s. Even if you were incredibly talented, a lot of doors were closed to you.

But Betty wasn’t having it! She insisted on featuring an African American tap dancer on her show and giving him a lot of airtime, despite complaints. The show didn’t last, but I bet that man always remembered her helping him get exposure. It’s stuff like this that made her a truly remarkable woman.
