The large nurse shark usually ate every meal, so the aquarium workers knew something was wrong when it suddenly stopped eating. The shark stayed near the bottom of the tank and looked uncomfortable.

When a veterinarian checked the shark, the workers could not believe what they found inside.

#1: Something on the Screen

Maya stood beside the medical pool as the veterinarian guided a small camera toward Tully’s stomach. The large nurse shark rested in the shallow water while several aquarium workers watched from a few feet away. A blurry shape appeared on the screen.

At first, it looked like a pale strip of food. Then the camera moved closer. The object folded over itself and shifted with the water. Whatever Tully had swallowed, it did not belong inside a shark.
