This person shared a story of how their parents got back at their super strict HOA. The HOA has a very strict schedule for when residents have to put up and take down holiday decorations. One year, our storyteller’s mom broke her ankle and was unable to take everything down by the January deadline. The HOA noticed.
She had left a single wreath on her front door, and she quickly got a citation with a photo of her front door. Seriously?! She took it down but didn’t forgive OR forget. A few years later, she got her revenge. Her and a few neighbors set up a flock of lawn flamingos, which wasn’t allowed. When the designated flamingo house would receive an HOA letter, the flamingos would magically migrate to someone else’s lawn, forever evading the evil HOA. Take that!
