#29: Korean Air Flight 801 (1997)
Approaching Guam in poor weather, a Boeing 747 descended too early and struck a hillside just short of the runway. The impact tore the aircraft apart, killing 228 of the 254 people onboard. Survivors described chaos as rescuers rushed through heavy rain to reach the crash site.

The investigation pointed to pilot error and confusion during the approach. It exposed flaws in cockpit procedures at Korean Air, which later underwent a complete safety culture overhaul. Flight 801 became a turning point for the airline, forcing dramatic improvements in training and international reputation.
