#21: From Ella Yelich-O’Connor to Lorde
Born in 1996, New Zealand’s global music sensation, Lorde, was originally named Ella Yelich-O’Connor. At 16, she adopted her stage name, with ‘Ella’ remaining a nickname among her inner circle.

On ’60 Minutes,’ the pop icon shared her fascination with the aristocratic title ‘Lorde’ but felt it needed a feminine touch. Hence, she uniquely added an ‘e’ to craft her stage persona, Lorde.
