Statistically Unlikely Events That Happened to Everyday People

I guess if they tell you that the likelihood is one in a million, then they can probably be trusted, and someone has to be the one. It’s terribly sad, but it does seem to me that if the statistics are stated at the outset, there’s something a little more acceptable about ending up as one of them.

Having said that, I wasn’t really expecting to encounter such stark instances of tragedy in this series of unexpected incidents. If you’ll excuse me, you’re going to have to give me a few minutes to recover over here. It’s just so unlikely but also so sad. That poor man and his poor family…
