Las Vegas, Nevada Population Skyrockets Since 1972, Reaching 2.2 Million in 2017
Las Vegas has worked hard to earn its reputation as a vacation city most famous for gambling, fine dining, shopping, entertainment, and getting married on a whim. Since Nevada legalized gambling in the early 1930s, Las Vegas has become the gambling and entertainment capital of the country, known for offering visitors a good time.
This probably has something to do with the reason it’s one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. In the photos above, you can see just how much it has developed over the years. Did you know that Las Vegas is actually a Spanish word meaning “the meadows”? Who would’ve thought?
