The States Where Jobs Are Disappearing and Where They’re Moving to Instead

Texas is usually seen as a major job-growth state, but this data shows a more even picture. New jobs keep coming from energy, construction, health care, tech, logistics, manufacturing, and the huge business activity around cities like Dallas, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.

Still, Texas loses jobs too. Energy can rise and fall with prices, construction can cool when costs climb, and fast-growing companies sometimes cut back after expanding quickly. So even in a state known for growth, this quarter looked more balanced than one-sided.
