The States Where Jobs Are Disappearing and Where They’re Moving to Instead

Nevada had the strongest job-growth balance on the list, with new jobs being created faster than old ones were disappearing. A lot of that comes from busy areas like Las Vegas and Reno, where construction, health care, transportation, warehousing, and business services are still growing.

But Nevada still lost jobs too. The state depends heavily on tourism, hotels, restaurants, entertainment, and retail, which can rise and fall with visitor spending. So even when Nevada is doing well overall, some service jobs can shrink when demand slows down.
