The States Where Jobs Are Disappearing and Where They’re Moving to Instead

North Carolina is often seen as a growing state, and it still creates plenty of jobs. New work can come from health care, banking, tech, research, manufacturing, construction, logistics, and the fast-growing areas around Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, and the Research Triangle.

But even growth states lose jobs too. Some companies may cut back after expanding quickly, while higher housing costs and slower demand can pressure businesses. North Carolina was still active, but this quarter showed that job growth was not quite enough to beat losses.
