#45: Michigan
Jobs Gained: 4.9%
Jobs Lost: 5.9%
Michigan had one of the clearer negative gaps among larger industrial states. New jobs can still come from auto manufacturing, health care, logistics, education, technology, construction, and businesses around Detroit, Grand Rapids, and other job centers.

But losses were much stronger than gains. Auto industry changes, factory slowdowns, supplier cutbacks, high costs, and weaker demand can all affect Michigan’s job market. The state still creates plenty of work, but this data shows a tougher quarter for job losses.
