#49: Vermont
Jobs Gained: 6.6%
Jobs Lost: 7.8%
Vermont had a lot of job movement for a small state. New jobs can come from tourism, health care, education, agriculture, food production, outdoor recreation, and small local businesses that serve residents and visitors.

But losses clearly led. Seasonal work can rise and fall quickly, and smaller communities may struggle to replace jobs when businesses close or cut back. High costs and a limited labor pool can also make expansion harder, leaving Vermont with more jobs disappearing than appearing.
