#26: Biology
Biology draws students who love science and often picture themselves becoming doctors, veterinarians, researchers, pharmacists, or environmental scientists. It feels like a smart, respected major with a direct link to healthcare and discovery. For many freshmen, biology seems like the natural starting point for almost any science-based career.

The regret usually comes when students learn how many biology careers require more school. A bachelor’s degree alone may not lead to the high-paying lab, medical, or research role they imagined. Without graduate or professional training, some biology graduates end up in lower-paid technician jobs, making the degree feel unfinished rather than complete.
