#36: Music Performance
Music performance attracts students who have often been practicing for most of their lives. They may picture themselves joining an orchestra, recording music, teaching privately, touring, playing in studios, or performing on respected stages. For talented musicians, college can seem like the place where discipline, passion, and professional training finally meet.

Regret can appear when graduates realize the music world is driven heavily by auditions, reputation, networks, and portfolio, not just a diploma. Many performance jobs are freelance or part-time, and steady positions are limited. The degree can improve skill, but it does not guarantee the kind of paid career students imagined.
