#55: Film Studies
Film studies draws students who love movies and want to understand how stories are built on screen. They may picture themselves becoming directors, screenwriters, producers, critics, editors, cinematographers, or development executives. Studying film can feel like the first serious step toward working in Hollywood, documentaries, streaming, or independent production.

Regret can hit when students realize the film industry usually hires through portfolios, credits, relationships, and location more than classroom knowledge. Expensive programs may not guarantee paid work, and early jobs can be freelance, assistant-level, or unstable. The dream is glamorous, but the path often starts with uncertainty.
