#56: Comparative Literature
Comparative literature appeals to students who love books, language, translation, culture, and ideas that cross national borders. They may imagine becoming writers, professors, editors, translators, critics, or publishing professionals. For students who enjoy reading deeply and connecting stories across time and place, the major can feel beautifully expansive.

The challenge is that the career funnel can be even narrower than English. Comparative literature builds strong analytical and writing skills, but the job market rarely asks for that degree by name. Graduates often need teaching plans, publishing internships, language specialization, or graduate school to make the degree feel practical.
