#6: You’ve Gotta Pass a Psych Test
Before filming, contestants must pass a detailed psychological evaluation. Alongside medical screenings, producers want to ensure that each participant can handle the pressure, scrutiny, and emotional chaos of reality TV. It’s a way to protect the show, the cast, and of course, the Bachelor or Bachelorette.

The evaluation reportedly includes long questionnaires, interviews, and even personality testing. While it makes sense given the intensity of the experience, it’s also a little ironic — many fans joke that anyone signing up for this level of televised heartbreak might not pass a psych test in the first place.
